Real-time encoding is time-efficient. If you are encoding a stream for 30 minutes, at the end of the 30 minutes, the encoded file will be ready. There is no need to wait for encoding after the recording has been made.

As there is no intermediate AIFF file, Real-Time encoding does not consume a lot of disk space. It only needs enough space for the encoded file.
