What Happens?

Typically, two minutes before the scheduled recording time, iCal's built-in alarm clock will launch iCal and examine the recording calendar. A helper AppleScript will be launched, and then iRecordMusic will be launched, and get ready to record.

Scheduled recording details are displayed in a drop-down sheet

If a scheduled recording has been missed, perhaps because the computer was sleeping or turned off, when your computer is next awake, iCal will launch the scheduled recordings that have been missed. The helper AppleScripts will inform you if recordings have been missed.

You do not need to keep iRecordMusic or iCal open in order for scheduled recordings to launch. iCal 1.52 and later feature a background process, called a daemon, which runs continuously in the background and checks the calendars for any events and alarms. You should upgrade to iCal 1.52 or later if you have not done so already.

[Tip]Tip
In iCal Preferences, under Miscellaneous, please make sure the option "Turn off alarms when iCal is not open" is not enabled or selected.

During a scheduled recording, you can cancel the scheduled recording. By default, scheduled recordings will close the document window when finished recording.
