Control Menu

Most of iRecordMusic can be controlled easily via a control menu. This appears in the menu bar, the dock icon menu, and when you click the status button.

Record

Selecting 'Record Now' will cause iRecordMusic to start recording. A window will appear asking for information related to the recording. You can enter as much information as you want, or nothing at all. The information you give will be used to identify the file by filename, and recording comments.

If you choose to record, for example, 15 minutes, iRecordMusic will schedule a recording to start, and then stop in 15 minutes.

Stop

Stop recording immediately.

Cancel

Cancel recording immediately. By default, the current file being recorded will be deleted. You can change this behaviour in the preferences.

Pause

Pause a recording. No audio data is recorded. Select this option again to unpause and resume recording.

Split Recording

Splits the recording by saving the audio to a new file. The audio saved before the split is sent off for processing, which includes encoding and tagging.

Mute

Mutes the audio output from iRecordMusic. This has no effect on the recording itself, and is useful if you want to record in the background and listen to something else, e.g. iTunes, in the mean-time.

Show Downloads

Opens a Finder window to show where the current or previously recorded files are.

Show Progress

Opens a window to display the encoding progress of recorded audio. The window will list the recordings to be encoded, and the percentage complete.
